Chris K. asked:

When do you think they’ll officially acquire him and if they do, will they also acquire Jose Vidro or Raul Ibanez? I think the likeliness would be that the Yankees would acquire Ibanez over Vidro for the hitter, is that not a possible deal?

The deal is very close to being done. Mariners still want a top prospect, but the Yankees will most likely not give them a top prospect, but more of B type prospect. Washburn is a solid starter, but he isn’t a front line starter so I think Mariners went over board when they asked for a top prospect. The chances of him starting the game tomorrow for the Yankees is 15%. 55% it gets done by the end of next week and 30% it doesn’t get done at all. Hopefully they can get him by tomorrow, so we don’t see Ponson get hammered.

Right choice is right on it, However its possible they may not give up anything at all. They would just have to eat his contract. 13 mill this year 14 next year i believe.

I dont think the Yanks will get Washburn they have some good young pitchers and 2 veternes with Hughes and Kennedy coming back they might get a big time pitcher in the off season for Cabrera and Kennedy because they went out and got Nady for a reason. I always thought Cabrera was a fourth outfielder and the Yanks are finally seeing it because Melky is outstanding in the field but lets face it he can barely hit!

Washburn is supposed to start tomorrow if he doesn’t it is a done deal.

IT will probably Vidro and Washburn for Melky and Igawa. If the M’s want another prospect they can probably get Anson and Betemit b/c the Yankees have Cerveli coming back from injury and will want to call up Brett Gardner to replace Malky on the active roster.
